3. STRUCTURE OF ADVISORY COUNCIL
3.1
Host Committee Elections to Advisory Council
Each Host Committee shall elect by “Third Legacy Procedure” (see AA Service Manual) three of its own members to serve a term of five traveling conferences on the WSCYPAA Advisory Council. All candidates for service on the Advisory Council must be members of Alcoholics Anonymous and have at least one year of continuous sobriety. Those being selected must have served on the conference committee continuously for six months prior to the actual conference on which they served. The incoming Advisory Council members will not be required to assume an active role until after their city has concluded the conference. They are encouraged to participate, but shall not have a vote until after hosting their conference. Elections for Advisory Council Members should be held at a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the conference date. The host committee will elect 3 members to join the advisory council.
3.2
Alternates
Alternates shall be members of the host committee who are chosen by election and will step in if an advisory council member is removed or steps down. Alternates will fill positions for the remaining conference cycle. Positions will become available to be filled by oncoming elected council members. If not filled by oncoming Advisory council members, the Alternate will continue to fulfill the position. One term for an Alternate not moved into the Advisory Council shall be 3 years from their host committee. All candidates for service on the Advisory Council must be members of Alcoholics Anonymous and have at least six months of continuous sobriety. Those being selected must have served on the conference committee continuously for three months prior to the actual conference on which they served.
Alternates are suggested to:
Participate in the WSCYPAA Advisory email group
Attend Advisory Council calls, just to listen, held between midyear and the conference.
Attend advisory council business meetings, just to listen, for midyear and the conference (with exception of host city deliberations)
3.3
RESIGNATION
3.3.1 Relapse
Any member of the Advisory Council who has any break in continuous sobriety
3.3.2 Resignation - Failure to Attend
Any Advisory Council member who fails to attend two consecutive meetings (bi-annual or conference) has voluntarily resigned, any member of the advisory council who fails to attend two non-consecutive meetings will be considered for resignation pending decision by advisory council at next meeting. Meetings are defined as mid-year meeting, conference meeting, bid session and deliberations.
3.4
REMOVAL
The Advisory Council shall have the power, by a two-thirds majority of its membership, to remove any member of the Advisory Council for some, any, or all of the following causes:
Theft, fraud, or other deliberate illegal conduct damaging to the Conference’s financial or reputational interests.
If any member of the Council steals, embezzles, or misappropriation of WSCYPAA’s funds, it will result in immediate resignation of the Council member upon discovery of the act.
If any advisory member is found by the advisory committee to be disruptive,impeding business,creating discord and/or chaos to the harmony of the advisory committee
